Oh So Quiet

I know, I know…I’ve been a very quiet blogger this week (thanks for the nudge Jen!). The mister & I had a lovely relaxing weekend of chatting & eating & watching movies with our dear friends in Washington, then came home well rested & ready to take on the massive challenge that is preparing for a live in-person craft fair tomorrow. And wouldn’t you know it? I got walloped with a nasty cold bug that has kept me feebly functioning all week. Things that should have been wrapped up by Wednesday are still lingering this afternoon, so blogging (& listing new items in the shop & posting new eBay auctions & doing the dishes) has been pushed to the backburner. Just getting to the post office to mail off new orders has felt like massive achievements this week, so uploading & editing photos? No chance.

I’m hoping for a miraculous recovery before tomorrow’s show or at the very least, I hope I’m not contagious by then. And next week? It’s back to painting. I’ve been so busy doing all the piddly little things that come with prepping for a show (stuffing postcards into plastic sleeves, making pendants) that I haven’t had the time to actually *create* anything new. My brushes are feeling neglected & my creative spirit feels the cobwebs creeping over it.  Maybe I should create sculptures with all the Kleenex that are piling up beside my bed!

Have a healthy weekend everybody!

Smiling Pretty

I took advantage of the cold, but sunny days we’ve been having lately to snap some photos of my art pendants in action. When you shop online, I think it helps if you can see the jewelery on another person so you get a clearer picture of the scale and how it sits. A 16″ necklace? I have no clue what that means. Pictures tell a 1000 words!

Of course the downside of shooting photos of a model wearing my pendants is that I have to be the model. And the photographer. And try not to look like a dork.

Resin Pendants ~ now only $16 in the shop

Trust me when I tell you that I am not a photogenic type of gal. This is not modesty or low self-esteem talking here – I’m quite happy with the way I look on a day to day basis. I don’t often wear make-up or feel the need to spend an hour in front of the mirror before I leave the house. And this is precisely why it comes as such a surprise (& blow to the ego) to look back at photos and see a crazy person grinning maniacly at the camera like she’s about to hop on her broomstick and fly away. I swear I’m quite lovely in person!

The mister and I are hopping the ferry and heading to Washington to visit some friends this weekend, but once I get back I’ll sit down and allow the Tyra gospel to pour over me as I watch America’s Next Top Model reruns and learn how to smile “with my eyes”. *grin*

Wee and White

After the softie version of Henry arrived the other day, I decided he needed a few more pals to keep him company & got started on these two new paintings:

It was a good thing I got outside to shoot photos of the new critters over the weekend because today? Snow! I know I can’t really complain when my friends & family are shivering through -23C temperatures back east, but c’mon now – this is Vancouver. In March. It’s time for rubber boots, people!

The pug, however, didn’t seem to mind the white stuff one bit:

In a New York State of Mind

apw gallery show

Tonight is the reception for the show I’m participating in & I’m a little bummed I can’t attend. I would so love to visit NYC again, but between the plane fare & accomodations, it’s out of my budget right now. With 500 artists involved in the show, I’m sure the APW Gallery will get a good turn out, preferably folks with cameras who will post pics! I’m dying to see the other work & of course, hoping my pieces will stand out.

If you’re anywhere near NYC this month, make sure you drop in & look for these gals:
